Mt Magog
trailhead and small
carpark, no vans. No facilities other than picnic table. The hike to Mt Magog passes through thick bush to a
clearing on the ridge between Mount Magog and
Talyuberlup Peak to the south-east with a steep scramble up to
the summit as the trail crosses various rocky outcrops. This is actually the the longest day hike in the area at 6.2km return but don't let that fool you. Like all the hikes here in the
Stirling Range, this is steep and very challenging and you'll need approx 3-4 hours for the return walk to allow time to rest frequently on the steep incline, or to explore
the summit, and to allow time for photographing the plentiful spring
wildflowers - all of which are great reasons to be hiking in the first place.
