Just south of the
well known Singing Ship Memorial a new memorial precinct has been established. Linked to the Singing Ship by road and coastal board walk, the new area is a memorial to the Australians who fought and sacrificed on the Western Front in France between 1914 and 1918 in WW1.
The RSL club has been renovated and now faces a new magnificent cenotaph structure with flag poles and other aids to remembrance. To the east of the RSL club, above
the beach, a new pavilion has been built. It houses pictorial displays that tell the stories of Flanders and The Somme battlefields.
The area gives
Emu Park a real focal point and makes the drive down from the more popular northern end of the Capricorn Coast just that much more worth while.
