Zig Zag Railway is a family friendly venue offering visitors the chance to experience
heritage steam travel on the original rail path down the picturesque western escarpment of the Blue Mountains – almost exactly as it was in the late 1800s.
Travel on our restored steam hauled passenger service through tunnels and across stone viaducts. Enjoy our picnic facilities, grab some mementos, or purchase food and drinks at our iconic Container Café. We offer free
parking and bathroom facilities, and our stations are all wheelchair accessible. Travel on our restored steam hauled passenger service through tunnels and across stone viaducts.
Whether you are visiting to learn about the history, experience steam travel, enjoy the
views, or admire the
heritage trains; visitors to The Zig Zag Railway won’t be disappointed.
There are also a range of free things to do near the station: utilise our picnic areas and complimentary BBQs, dine in our static carriages, bushwalk in the extensive Crown Reserve where the railway passes through, or enjoy the wildlife which includes kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, birds, and lizards.
Tickets are available to purchase online and through select agencies. The only way to ensure travel on a particular train is to pre-book. Please ensure you have your booking confirmation email available on arrival at the railway for a speedy
check-in. Our
shop crew are also able to help guest
check-in on confirmation of identification.

Assistance animals are permitted to travel within carriages and other animals are welcome within the Clarence Station precinct where you will find water bowls and bags to collect waste. For the safety and comfort of all visitors, animals must always be kept on a leash, and waste must be collected in a sealed bag and placed in a bin.
