Granite outcrop on Edge of a
Salt Lake. Notable historic significance - was discovered during early exploration of the area by Charles Hunt and his aboriginal tracker George Mundale while looking for a path east to find water and feed for his animals. They were stopped by
Lake Cowan and retreated back to
Cave Hill were there was feed and more reliable water supplies. Access from
Cave Hill via Sunday Soak for todays traveller is reccommended, the route is populated in parts by large Salmon Gums and good examples of the
Great Western Woodlands. Much of the area was not logged during the woodline opeerations. A large area of dense woodland can be observed south west of Mundale dome. Be aware that the trip to
Norseman south of the dome can be time consuming due to the condition of the old
Hyden Norseman road.
