The
Timber Creek Walk commences from the car park on Seagers Road. The walk follows an old levee bank into
Murray Lagoon and then enters a closed paperbark community. This walk enables the visitor to experience the heart of
Murray Lagoon. The walk takes about one hour and is easy going.
This walk at
Murray Lagoon offers the visitor a tea-tree swamp experience. Waterfowl such as ducks, swans and waders flock to
the lagoon to create a bird-lovers delight. Hawks and eagles prey upon the waterfowl, while chats and little grassbirds sing among the thickly vegetated shorelines. During drought years and late in the summer the best
views of
Murray Lagoon can be seen from the
Bald Hill and Curly Creek trails.
Along the old levee bank walkers can view
Murray Lagoon from water level where waders are searching for insects on the mudflats and many different species of duck can be seen on the water. In the paperbark community walkers maybe lucky enough to see reed warblers and crakes.
