Located in the remote,
Sturt National Park, camping fee applies but no bookings are available – camping is on a first come, first served basis.
There are some marked day walks close to the
campground, including the walk across
Lake Pinaroo (when dry) to Sturt’s tree. When filled,
Lake Pinaroo is a spectacular bird watching site. You can also explore the
ruins of the
Old Fort Grey homestead.
Fort Grey campground is on the road to
Cameron Corner and is 100km west of
Tibooburra. Access is 2wd, and suitable to caravans and motorhomes although the road is unsealed and dry weather only.
You’ll need to bring drinking and cooking water as only untreated
bore water is available. Fire restrictions are observed so gas bbqs are provided. Facilities include
toilets (non-flushing).
