This small hamlet is the remains of a larger centre of former days. Originally named Musket Flat, it was s staging point for wagons travelling between
Maryborough and inland areas. It boasted a
post office, hotel and many other facilities. It is now a short strip of sealed main street with one side street and four or five houses.
The town is located on the Bicentennial Trail and has a finger post that declares "
Cooktown 2225 km" in one direction and "
Melbourne 3105 km" in the other. Its position on the Trail is marked by a small
camping area with a shelter and a commemorative hitching rail dedicated to the pioneers.
