Hi ExplorOz Reader, The latest version of EOTopo maps are now available. Please read this newsletter carefully to find out what you need to do to purchase or upgrade.
EOTopo overview
AVAILABLE FORMATSThe
EOTopo map data is released in a number of different formats to suit
the wide range of popular devices and mapping software applications in
use today. There are 3 options:- - EOTopo Raster Maps (sold as EOTopo Standard, & EOTopo Premium)
- ExplorOz Traveller Premium Offline Maps
- EOTopo Premium for Memory-Map
Please read information below for each of these 3 formats to find out what is right for you.
OPTION 1: EOTOPO RASTER MAPSThe map files
we produce in the ECW and OZF4 file formats are what we called the Raster map sets. We have previously sold
EOTopo raster in a product called "EOTopo 200K". In the 2018 release, we have called the raster products EOTopo Standard (the 200K mapset) and EOTopo Premium (the 144K mapset).
Whilst we've been offering ExplorOz Traveller app users the Premium 144K EOTopo map since July 2016, this is the first time that we've made the 144K scale raster file map for sale in the ECW/OZF4 formats. Please note that only the ECW file format is a whole of Australia single sheet map. In OZF4 format, there are 6 State sheets that together make up the whole of Australia coverage in the 144K scale. These maps are only available by download directly from our website. (Note that we are currently producing an MMR format but is not yet available).
It is important to understand that to use
these raster maps you will need to have a program on your device that
can read these files types - the most common programs are OziExplorer, and
TrackRanger. These map files can also be imported into Hema Navigators. Please note that Garmin units do not support ECW files and OZF4 is the specific format for OziExplorer (although ECW can be used in OziExplorer). Do not purchase these maps for use in our ExplorOz Traveller app - see Option 2 below instead.

Purchase your EOTopo raster maps licence from our online shop and you'll then be able to unlock the maps to download from our website. You can purchase a licence for EOTopo Standard, which features the 200K scale (1:200,000)
map for the whole of Australia, or EOTopo Premium
which features the 144K scale (1:144,000) maps. All maps are provided in ECW and OZF4 files formats.

EOTopo Premium (144K) mapset $99.95 / or $40 upgrade

OPTION 2: EXPLOROZ TRAVELLER PREMIUM OFFLINE MAPS
We have just launched a new version of our app ExplorOz Traveller (V3.0.0), which is compliant with the
new 2018 release of EOTopo maps. For new app users simply purchase the
app from the Apple App Store, or the Google Playstore, or the Windows Store
as applicable for your device, and then load the Premium maps and away
you go! The Premium Maps for ExplorOz Traveller cost $49.99 and can be
purchased either in-app or from our online shop. For further information about ExplorOz Traveller see this page on our website. FREE UPDATE FOR EXISTING APP USERS
Existing app users need to install the latest update to ExplorOz Traveller Version 3.0.0 (now available in the Playstore for Android, and in the App store for iPad and iPhone, and in the Windows Store for Windows 10 devices). App users who already own the EOTopo Premium Offline Mapset can update to the 2018 mapset for free within the app, however there is a process as follows:-
- After upgrading to V3.0.0 go into the Data Manager.
- Delete all offline maps - work your way up from the bottom of the screen, press one black button at a time. Make sure you delete the base map also.
- You will now be able to access the download buttons for the new 2018 Premium Offline EOTopo maps. So proceed to download the Base Map, then the 577K map and then your selection of the 144K maps.
- Finally, to ensure you can access the new Level 15 and Level 16 zoom levels in EOTopo online (this provides a max map scale of 18K) you will need to go to the Home Screen and press User, then press LogOff. Then Log in again.
OPTION 3: EOTOPO PREMIUM FOR MEMORY-MAP
Memory-Map is a free app for use on PC and mobile devices. The app provides a range of maps for sale as an in-app purchase, including EOTopo. The app is not developed by I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd and it is not the same as our app ExplorOz Traveller. If you are an existing user of the Memory-Map app and want to purchase the new 2018 versions of EOTopo Standard and Premium please stay tuned for more information as this product has not yet been released but is coming very soon.
