How to Post a Wildflower - In this week's Bloomin' News update, Val has prepared a step-by-step guide to posting a wildflower to the ExplorOz Wildflowers database. Read it here

The guide is written with the aim of assisting those with good photos to share but limited technical knowledge about Australian wildflowers and how they are identified and named. In the guide you'll learn about:
  1. Selecting & preparing your photos
  2. Identifying your wildflower
  3. What to do if you can't identify your plant
  4. How to make a new wildflower post
  5. How to contribute information to the Wildflowers section.

Buy 1 Book, Get Another Free - The second edition of the bestselling Boiling Billy’s Camping Guide to Australia is out now. It features over 3,000 bush camping areas, over half of them free. This is your ideal guide to Australia’s national parks, state forests, conservation parks, the outback and is an update (not just a reprint).

For ExplorOz customers, we have a great offer - with your purchase of this book, you'll also receive a free copy of Ken Duncan’s “Destination Australia” valued at $12.95. Destination Australia is a photography book showing a "snapshot" of Australia's unique scenery, and could be kept for yourself, or you could pass it on as a gift. Valid only while stock lasts. Just $47.45 (Members' Price)

EOTopo for Mud Map - Did you know that EOTopo maps are available for Mud Map users? Mud Map is a 4WD GPS Navigation app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices that requires map files in .mmr format.

This file format is very large so the 200K file in .mmr format for the single whole of Australia mapsheet is not provided - but full coverage is possible by using the 6 state files contained in the EOTopo 2015 download purchase option. The download purchase option gives you access to the entire range of files in all formats - you only download the ones you need.

In addition, the 10M, 5M, & 2.5M scale maps for the whole of Australia in .mmr format are available for free download. See EOTopo Downloads

Site Fixes - here's a quick summary of a few of the bugs we've fixed this week;

In Road Alerts, there had been a programming error causing the map in the Road Status section not to show but that's back and working now and is a very handy overview to the Australia-wide report showing colour coded open-caution-closed road statuses.

On Monday we updated to the latest Facebook SDK and for some strange reason this conflicted with login and caused an unnecessary Facebook prompt to appear for some site users. This was completely unintentional and we were blissfully unaware until Tuesday that some people were seeing this message! After receiving an email alert it was promptly fixed so we do apologise to those that were annoyed by this and assure you that it has been resolved.

In Wildflowers, there had been a programming error in how the Get Next button was indexing the Blooming News blogs. This has now been fixed.
