Edition 331: Hi ExplorOz Reader, We hope you enjoy this week's edition of our newsletter with all the latest information about what's happening on the website. In Search of the Most Well Travelled EO Hat
|
| Over the years on ExplorOz, we’ve created 5 different styles of outdoor hats featuring the ExplorOz logo. Three of these styles are still available, whilst two have been discontinued.
We know that many of you have enjoyed special adventures together with your ExplorOz hat and to celebrate those adventures, we’ve created a new way for you to share photos of your ExplorOz hat on location.
Simply create a Blog on ExplorOz (Members-only) with photos of your hat. Tag your blog to the new “EO hats on Location” tag and also tag each photo to the name of the Place where it was photographed (if you've forgotten how to do this, just refer to this blog for instructions).
This is not a competition. This is simply a quirky way for you to share your adventures in a unique way on ExplorOz, so have some fun with it. We don't mind if you're wearing the hat, or you've placed it somewhere odd, or special. It's up to you how you wish to share the intrepid travels of your hat. In fact, I wonder who has the most well-travelled EO hat? And what would that mean?
Here's a blog already done by Life Member - Kerry W (WA) to get you started with some ideas.
The ExplorOz headwear range includes:The ExplorOz Mossie Net Hat - from $14.20 The ExplorOz Cap - from $12.30 The ExplorOz Beanie - from $9.45
| 2014 Photo Comp Winner
|
| After much deliberation by the judges, the winner of the 2014 ExplorOz Members Photo Comp has been chosen.
Despite a wonderful array of outstanding photographs depicting "Aussie Landscapes" there could only be one winner. Final say in the winning shot was made by the artist herself, (New Business Member - Jan's Country Art) who will soon be recreating the image in oil paints onto a circular saw in the second part to this interesting competition. This rare, unique and collectible item will then be raffled at the National Gathering later in the year.
Please join us in congratulating Member gary a1 (NSW), who has been chosen as the winner of this competition. Gary has won an ExplorOz Merchandise Pack plus $150 voucher to spend in the ExplorOz Shop. |
| EOTopo Help
|
| EOTopo is so flexible it can be used on many different platforms (Android, Apple iOs devices, PCs, Hema Navigators etc).
EOTopo maps are easier to load on some devices than others and depending on what you want to use and how computer literate you are with setting up technology you might find the whole exercise very straightforward, or find yourself a bit confused.
In response to the inquiries we have received from people who are confused about how to setup EOTopo on their device we've put together the following EOTopo Help and FAQ article.
You can find the new article in the Navigation category of our Articles.
| Travel Tips & Alerts
|
|
To help you find important travel tips & alerts that go beyond the scope of our official road condition reports, we have added a new section on the Road Conditions Home Page especially for these. Published as blogs by our volunteer Roads Reporter - Lifetime Member - Mike (SA), you'll now see a tab on the blue bar titled "Travel Tips & Alerts".
Alongside the new Travel Tips & Alerts tab, you'll also see a tab to access a list of all Roads Closed Australia-wide. This link is also accessible from the ExplorOz Home Page. These are new features just added!
The ExplorOz Road Conditions Report is updated from official sources at least once a week. You can also contribute feedback, please share your observations by adding a comment in the applicable section by road name.
