Edition 321: 20th February 2014

Hi ExplorOz Reader,

If you've visited the ExplorOz website in the last few hours you may have noticed a few sudden changes! We have added the new Wildflowers and Recipes sections to the site menu (and changed the order of tabs around) plus, Site Search has moved to the very top of the page, along with the orange Account Tabs. Earlier during the week, we commenced changes to the Home Page with a reformatted "What's New" box, and larger Road Conditions section, with many more changes to come.

Your Photos

Thank you to all who submitted their pictures to the ExplorOz Facebook Page for our special Valentine's Day Photo. A new cover image was created from a compilation of your entries. For those of you who aren't on Facebook, we thought we'd show it to you here...

Entries can also still be made for the 2014 ExplorOz Members Photo Comp. The theme is “Aussie Landscapes”, so if you have any great travel pictures that you have not entered yet, now is the time to do it! Multiple entries are also welcome, however, you must be an ExplorOz Member to post in Blogs. Competition closes midnight Friday 7th March, 2014. For more competition information on how to enter see ExplorOz Photo Competition 2014.

The winning photographer will receive an ExplorOz Merchandise Pack plus $150 voucher to spend in the ExplorOz Shop.

Your Recipes

Forum Image
Today on ExplorOz we launched a brand new Recipes section designed to allow you to record and share your recipes, as well as view or print those posted by others.

To get started, we've created the structure, including pre-set recipe categories and tags, and Michelle has added several of her own recipes.

All registered site users have access to create recipe pages and upload images, so please take the time to have a look and contribute!

Your Top Places

Survey Image We’re trying to gather a list of the must-see places in Australia as nominated by the ExplorOz community. Unlike other publications, our community of travellers really know how to find the real outback, the hidden gems where some serious exploring and planning is needed to reach spectacular places.

In our latest survey we want you to list your top spots, and tell us a bit about them and why they are so special. We’ll compile the results and share them back with you. Every entry will go in the draw to win 1 of 10 copies of the new Explore Australia publication 4WD Australia - 50 Short Getaways. This survey closes at midnight on 19th March 2014 (WST) and winners will be selected by random selection.

4WD Australia - 50 Short Getaways

If you enjoy a short break or holiday away from urban centres and want to journey into the ‘real’ Australia, or if you're a more experienced 4WD enthusiast, then this book is for you!

There are many 4WD publications out on the market, but Linda and Steven’s book is a little different. Their focus is on the journey and the destination, so they’ve selected the top 50 tracks around the country that will provide something to do and see for everyone in the family. Completely redesigned and updated for this second edition, the book is broken into regional chapters, so no matter which state or territory you live in or are visiting, you can find an easy or more challenging 4WD tour to suit.

Available for $39.95 ($37.95 for Members) from the ExplorOz Shop.
