Edition 266: 19th July 2012
Hi ExplorOz Reader,
Road ConditionsWe have made huge progress with the audit of our report structure and soon all roads will be georeferenced to appear on the National Roads map. The roads closed page is proving very handy for a quick overview of conditions Australia-wide & new links to all official source reports are included if you need up-to-the-minute info.
However we still need helpers - are there roads listed anywhere in our National Road Conditions report for which you can offer a little of your time to check proactively and perform the status update? All that is required is periodic checking on the link provided at the top of the report section to see if changes have occured in the area. To get involved, please contact us & we will assign the new Roads Admin access to your profile to enable you to modify the status of any road in the report at any time.
What do you do with your GPS track files?Do you record the track files of your journeys? Don’t forget to upload them to User Treks. Amongst other things, we can use the data to create the georeferencing for the road conditions map.
HOW TO: we suggest you customise the map to show the User Treks data layer (click on Features) and then zoom around Australia to see what gaps you can fill. CHECK YOUR DATA: have you got User Treks with crazy lines? This is due to errors in your plot file. These are becoming messy so please delete these. You can only delete your own files. Simply click EDIT then Delete.
