Edition 260: 26th April 2012 Hi ExplorOz Reader, Here's a story we wanted to share... A long time member contacted us last week after receiving his Member Renewal notice. Initially he was going to let his Membership lapse as he was no longer travelling but then he realised that it was his turn to give back. He felt that after receiving help and information to plan his trip using ExplorOz it was now it was his turn to help others. He decided to renew his Membership so that he could continue as a Member and contribute as much as possible to help other people with their trip planning. This generous sharing of knowledge is what makes ExplorOz so unique. We'd like to say thank you to everyone who contributes, whether it be contributing to the Forum & Blogs or uploading User Treks or adding photos and comments to Places, or making updates in Road Conditions. This is truly a site for the people, by the people.
Inspirational MembersSeems we've got quite a bunch of adventurous girls amongst our Membership lately...

The Happy WalkMember - Terra'Mer is planning an awareness walk around Australia to increase awareness of depression and suicide in remote and rural areas. The walk starts in September however Terra has been completing shorter individual walks this year to train and promote the upcoming long walk. She will be doing the Larapinta Trail (230km) in May and snowshoeing and hiking approx 700km across the Australian Alps from the 1st July (becoming the first female to complete a crossing solo in winter). To read about Terra's activities so far, please see her blog here. We think you'll find her writings enjoyable, amusing, and inspirational.
New Look Member Profile Page
The look and functionality of the ExplorOz Member Profile pages have just been updated. The Profile page is designed to give each member a page that's all about you. The link to your Profile Page is displayed in your Forum Signature and in the Member's list.
It's worth having a little summary about "yourself" and/or your "rig" on this page as this helps others identify with like-minded people. To check/update yours, click the orange "My Profile" tab at the top of the site. You'll also find a "View Public Profile" button so you can quickly check the page as it looks to others.
