Edition 166: 2nd October 2008

Dear ExplorOz Reader,

Anyone thinking of travelling to Tasmania soon will enjoy this edition of our newsletter featuring 2 new trek notes for great camping on the East side of the apple isle and a couple of Tasmanian maps on Super Special this week.

We'd also like to introduce you to our new online Shop Manager - Adele Scala, who joined the ExplorOz Team a few weeks ago and has been frantically learning the ropes from Michael, who has decided he's had enough of helping others plan trips so he's off for an exciting overseas adventure of his own! Michael has been a great team member and we wish him all the best for the adventures he has ahead. Adele is now the first point of call for callers to the I.T. Beyond office and manages all customer enquiries, processing of shop orders, and administration of trader ads and membership. See Staff Profiles on the About Us page.

2000 ExplorOz Members

Did you know that our Membership numbers fluctuate daily with new members joining just as quickly as others expire? The good news is that Membership has recently increased and we can now proudly claim to have reached another milestone with 2000 active members. This is no doubt due to the big improvements to site features for Members in recent times, with Blogs becoming the answer to people wanting their own websites, and the obvious savings when purchasing maps/books/gps products from our shop when using Member Money to discount your purchase.

Blogs Integrated with Topics

Blogs are now integrated into the site content navigation based on the use of Blog Tags used by the blog owner. When tagging your blog, you have a choice of "ExplorOz Tags" that match our list of siteTopics. This means that when site readers use the Topics menu they'll now be able to easily view a flitered list of Blogs to related to that topic. How cool is that?!

Videos Now Supported

We are pleased to announce that YouTube and Vimeo video links can now be added to forum and blog entries. If you have a video on one of these websites and would like to add the link to your forum post, or ExplorOz member blog entry - why not enhance the message and link a video. We have provided some tips to help you use this new feature in both forum posts and blog entries.
