The sound of rain on canvas bought me to my senses around 3.00 a.m. Remembering that my boots had been left on top of the trailer, down the ladder I went into a biting wind to recover them. The rain had cleared by morning and we headed off to
Renmark and beyond. Passing through
Renmark,
John realised that he might need a few spare belts for his vehicle so took a detour to an engineering place to secure a few spares. They caught us up again at
Morgan where we stopped at the
bakery for a bit of morning tea before heading on to
Burra and into the hills to
Peterborough.
Blue Bush Camp
Heading down through the Horrock’s Pass, Larry gave us a handling demo of the Mog attacking it like it was Mount Panorama. Naturally I had to catch him on the straights as I was down in the low gears rather than wear out the brakes.
Port Augusta always bring on the horrors of shopping and then the sorting and packing of food items out in the car park. It was no different this year and we finished the shopping by topping up the tanks with 209 litres of diesel. I had to pick up a few hose connections at the local hardware store as
well to stop the slow leak from the new
water tank at the rear of the trailer
The mighty Tuck Truck in it's favourite environs
Larry having been pretty much stocked with food and fuel, headed up the highway ahead of us to scout out a
campsite for the night. Jaydub and I rendezvoused on the outskirts of town and after making a few last minute phone calls, headed north up the Stuart in pursuit of the Mog. Larry had located a spot 50 km or so north of
Augusta so we all tucked in around the fire for soup and crumpets and a few glasses of Vino in the blue bush country.
