Our shake-down day continues. Tried all manner of new things today. Firstly though, it was with a woolly head that I alighted from bed at a leisurely 8 o’clock, far too much red having been consumed. Hugh had the fire going and the kettle boiled so a cup of tea was first on the agenda followed promptly by an invigorating dip in the river. That certainly got the blood flowing. Jaffle breakfast and then into the proceedings of the day.

Hugh was keen to try and hook a fish as we’d heard them jumping during the night. We improvised one of our fly nets onto a crafty shrimp net and loaded it with a few pieces of leftover steak from the evening meal. Finding a place deep enough proved to be the issue. We eventually managed that OK and all that remained for us to do was haul in the catch…right!

Mushrooms, walking, bird watching, the Cobb out and fired up , bread making, potatoes and chicken filo’s for dinner. That’s a full day. Hugh had somehow misplaced his glasses provoking a couple of hours fruitless searching. The weather soured during the late afternoon. By the time we’d finished dinner, the darkness brought great sheets of lightening and a call from Jude in Mildura to inform us that a god awful storm had just passed through there. We battened down the hatches and settled in for the night. The first of the gales arrived just on 8:00 p.m. bringing the rain with it. A test indeed!
