Many people visit the historic Kanyaka ruins situated between Quorn and Hawker, but how many visit Death Rock and the Kanyaka Waterhole?

You can get to Death Rock two ways, near the Wirreanda Creek there is a bush track, or you can walk there from the Kanyaka Ruins.

Death Rock is a large 7 metre high quartzite rock and was also an important place for local aboriginals in the area. Legend has it that those near to death were taken here and spent the last hours of their life beside this special rock.

Below the rock, there is a permanent waterhole that is spring fed and this body of water is known as Kanyaka Waterhole.

If you are ever passing, take the time to check out another special feature of the Flinders Ranges.
