We spent today resting in Narrabri; I visited the Australia Telescope which is in fact a number of different CSIRO facilities on the same site. The Australia Telescope is a group of 6 Radio Telescopes that are used together to enable very weak signals to be received. Also in the site is the Ionospheric prediction measurement system that is used to predict changes in the ionosphere that affect amongst other things HF radio propagation.
I also visited Yarrie Lake which is a beautiful lake surrounded by native pine and other trees. It is set up for picnics and camping, it even has some powered sites. Unfortunately it doesn’t allow dogs so we were unable to stay there. The lake turn off is about 5 Km toward Wee Waa from the Telescope.
The road is bitumen until inside the Lake area and then good quality gravel
