Today’s we travelled to the Grawin area and
Hebel.
Grawin and neighbouring Glengarry are opal mining settlements and are similar to the camps around
Lightning Ridge. We visited the “3 pubs in the scrub” in the area. In one location there are literally 2 mountains of Mullock. The roads in the area were rough but we had no problems getting through and in the dry could have been driven by a standard car.
We then travelled to
Hebel just over the border into Queensland and had lunch from the
general store.
On returning to
Lightning Ridge we had a swim in
the pool and the after tea we had a local personality (Willy not
Nelson) and his wife give the people in the park a song and joke performance which was very good.
