The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will conduct planned burns throughout September and October 2014.

A series of strategic burns are planned to take place at locations throughout the park. The precise timing of burns cannot be predicted as this will be largely determined by weather conditions. Persons with respiratory or other health problems that may be aggravated by smoke inhalation should take suitable precautions when necessary.

Visitors to Alligator Creek should be aware that walking tracks may be closed for short periods for public safety. People expecting to camp in the remote camping areas of Mt Elliot are required to register online www.nprsr.qld.gov.au or phone 137468 (13 QGOV) before they enter the area. Please observe all track closure signage and directions by QPWS staff. Your safety is our concern but your responsibility.

For more information, please call Townsville office of QPWS on 4796 7759.
