Hi folks, hope you can assist me in locating some reasonably priced steel wheels for my current model lux. To me it appears the only steel wheel that complies with the correct offset (P.30), is the original spare which is a 15 x 7, 6 stud.
They are for my for my camper trailer as I don't want to use alloys on it. Ideally I'd change all 6 wheels on the camper and car if the cost was reasonable.
The Toyota price for a new spare is too eyewatering to consider; even the wrecker I called wanted $130 for a rusty unit. In desperation I accosted another lux owner in our local woollies
carpark the other day, offered to swap an original alloy for his steel spare........you'd have thought I was offering to swap wives the way he looked at me.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Shep
PS. I'm located in
Melbourne

Hi Shep, in 2010 I ordered 2 steel rims for my Rodeo from the Jax Quickfit Tyre Store in Epping (Melb), they got them from a supplier (brand new) and charged me $60 - $70 each from memory!
Not sure what the price would be now, but worth an enquiry!
Cheers,
John

John, I'll follow up but I've tried numerous retailers & wholesalers and always get the same negative answer.

Tried the site earlier last year and the best suggestion a member came up with was
check around the wreckers.
Thanks anyhow wicket.

Shepbar
I have been able to obtain some perfectly good steel rims from BOB JANE stores.
Many people go in and trade their steelies for some fancy alloy creations.
The steel wheels usually sit out the back of the store and they will possibly sell them to you, particularly if you are also going put tyres on them too.
Last one I bought was a steel Dmax rim +38 though. Cost was the price of a 4wd tyre
puncture repair.
There is all sorts there so you might be lucky, I have, on numerous occasions.
PS. it is hard for some people to evaluate the worth of a wheel and a wife. He probably would take time to decide seeing you may have mentioned 6 studs.

Ha Ha, studs aside
Ross, I agree with you that dealers often have trade-ins out the back. The problem with the SR5 hilux is that they all come with alloys, and the SR's are all 16" steels which are no good to me, as I need 15".
In short, I have been unable to find a 15 x 7 steel wheel in the correct offset of P30; so apart from the SR5 spare, they don't exist.

Lots of Mazda's, Triton, Pajero, Challenger and ifs Hilux have 15x7 rims and some must be close to the +30 you want. If they are +25 that shouldn't be an issue and they would also serve as a back up spare for the tow vehicle too.

check the offset if you like......nit like they where hard to get and from memory they cost me about $90 a piece in silver.

You're not going to believe it twinkles, we're in Rye at the moment and will be here on & off for a few weeks. If we can arrange a swap I'll take the tyre off an alloy for a clean exchange with you.
Let me know when you'll be down this way next.
Thanks,
Shep
