My Place Rating: My Rating 4/5

We loved the place, visited there last month. Innamincka is one of those iconic places you can say you've been to but will probably never go back again.
We camped at the Town Common on the banks of the Cooper Creek. My wife was staggered that after driving for four days straight from northern Victoria, we drove into the Sturt Stony Desert yet camped next to a creek with running water you can comfortably swim in!!! So wife & the kids had a swim while I refueled & had a beer at the pub. $6-40 for a stubby of Cartlton Draught was unexpected but gee it was cold & went down very well!!!
One criticism was there's very little or poor signage on the outskirts of town. We tried to complete the Dig Tree Loop Road "clockwise" but the turnoff north of town was not signed at all. So to be sure we ended up completing the loop in the other direction.
The road on the Qld side is now sealed to within 22kms of the SA border. It's only a further 17kms of unsealed road on the SA side to Innamincka. So less than 40kms of dirt road to one of the most remotest towns in Australia makes this stop well worth it if you're heading that direction.
