we always stop here at fig tree when passing through
Geraldton. Lovely spot. Was surprised to find the fees have increased from $5.50 per night to $7 per person per night. Limited now to one nights stay with a fine of $100 if you get caught staying longer. We'd love to here caravanners thoughts. Staying tonight ,but moving on tomorrow. It's a shame ,normally there are loads of caravans here. But now if quite deserted.

Bit of a bummer about the increase in fees. I suppose that's what happens when they put in new facilities. Very nice too.
We were there in June for the first time and the limit was 48hrs.
This limit was being abused. There were several there when we arrived and they were still there 2 days later with no intention of moving. One in particular had taken over the communal barbie area leaving all their gear on the table the whole time, even when they wern't there.
A lovely spot and close to
Geraldton.

We were there last week for 5 nights. During that period we spoke to a council
ranger about the time limit, his reply was "we only enforce that during busy times or for people that set up for long periods" it appears to me the time limit (NOW 24 hours) is incredible at off peak times, while we were there at no time were there more than 8 rigs in an area that could hold 30+ rigs with ease. The
ranger had no issue at all re us & at least 3 others including a guy with 2 Great Danes that were not accepted anywhere else. During peak times I can fully understand the limit.
The fees are:
$7 per person Per night
$6 per senior " "
$3 per child. " "
Plent of grass areas
Cleanest dunny ever, no smell.
Beaut BBQ. & the easiest
dump point I have ever seen.

Giddy
Good to see a bit of common sense from the
ranger there .... Now it is up to people not to abuse the privilege. Sadly there are always people who take advantage or think the rules dont apply to them. Stopped (for lunch) at the
Galena Bridge rest area a few years ago and there was one obviously semi permanent
camp there with all t he consequences . reading a few
blogs about the state of some of the rest areas and
camp spots up north makes me wonder if I ever want to venture up there.
Cheers
