Has anybody had to replace the outside door lever on a Gamec(k) door opener/lock? I broke the lever when opening the door and have since purchased a replacement part ($45) but I cannot see how to get the handle off .Help
Many thanks

hi, i cant help with the removal BUT if you purchased the plastic replacement be prepared for the same to happen again. We (on advice) placed stainless steel screws in the indentations on either side of the black handle and then epox ied the screws firmly into place using two part ribbon mix -which is hand pliable.
We hav e seen alloy replacement handles at various trade shows.

Thank you
Yes it is a plastic handle. Do I use that with the stainless steel screws?
Thanks

Use the pins from a pop rivet. Place them in the indents on either side of the handle than fill it with plastibond ( get it from Bunnings). Sand down smooth and spray paint black.

It will not brake after this.

Thank you Graham I will go to Bunnings today.
I still haven't worked out how to the the handles/lock off the door. The two screws that hold it to frame come out but the handle still seems to be stuck to the door.
Thanks again

Hi Peter M

I cannot remember exactly but when we had to replace ours the replacement bit from CAMEC came with the instructions so maybe give them a call? but i seem to remember it was self explainatery once you took the handle and surround of the door
we also on advice of others filled in the centre of the handle but i just used NEEDIT from the hardware store as it sets like concrete and has now been in place for 2 years with no issue and looks like it should be there

Peter..

Had the same trouble Peter and have done the epoxy fill as the others have done. I remember that it was a bit of a puzle at fist but I just unscrewed the whole lock and followed my nose from there, it went back together quite eaisilly.
Cheers, Nev.

Thank you one and all
I will study the video and instructions supplied by Nomadic Navara
Even a mug like me should be able to follow instructions, though the Commander in Chief would disagree with that statement
