I'm sure you're right, but in this particular instance the distance given is according to the route described in the Trek Note specifically - this refers to the route shown in the map, and detailed at the end of the page by the Driving Notes which give the section by section distance markers - these all add up correctly to 218km because it includes side trips and is not meant to be the shortest driving distance between two point but an excursion through the area.
