I own a 2007 2L
Liberty Wagon and am interested in how they tow. I am looking at purchasing 1986 Jayco Swan Camper Trailer. I think the weight of the camper is around 1000kg loaded (ish, many variables here obviously). Has anyone had much experience towing with a
liberty wagon of similar specs to
mine? Also, I anticipate that i will require a levelling hitch, not sure on electric brakes though. Thoughts and advice on these would be appreciated.
On a separate note, what should i be paying for a pretty clean and fully equiped 86 swan?
cheers

Anything over 750 kg gross weight must be braked.
FWIW we have a 2.5l manual Forester and it's quite effective as a tug for a CT that gross is about 750 kg. I think though it wouldn't be much fun towing a tonne. To keep fuel consumption reasonable you'd have to drop the top speed by a decent margin.
I've seen Foresters towing Jayco Finchs without a levelling hitch and
the springs drop about the same extent as ours with the CT.

Hi
I tow our Sportliner (A"Van) with 2006 Forester, which has a 2.5 ltr engine.
The Sportliner would probably be around 800 to 1000kg in weight, however the "Ball" weight is just over 75kg. The van weight is
well in the Forester's limit of 1400kg but the ball weight is over it's 75kg. I have been using WD,s as without them the steering become to light, I have also just had a set of heavy duty springs fitted on the rear, .....not towed since but will see how they go next week. hope this helps
Brian
