Hi all
Wondering if anyone has taken a look at one of these, and any comments. We had a look last week and thought it seems a good bit of gear, but would be most interested to hear any
feedback good or bad from those who have seen one themselves.

hi liza mapert from the name you havent given any leads so googled it and found all details on
www.echo4x4.co.za/
the price in rand equates to $3815.00 au
but i cant imagine getting one in aus through an importing stealer for less than about $25000 au
if i.m any judge on mark ups in this country
yes it reads ok but there there appears to be a fair bit of canvass to fold out at the top before you can get to bed and it will be wet cavass that fold internally when packing up after a wet night or heavy dew just going by the pics
didnt find any local stealer but there probably is one at least importing them ?????
cheers

yep - I've been on about this for a while. It's the same with The Conqueror and the Commander etc. Imported here with a very healthy mark up. We used to get the Jurgens Caravan in Oz, which was a real offroader (there are still a few on the used market) for $20,000+ but they took that off the market because they didn't like the competition and re-introduced a new range at double the price and they are not even real "offroaders". When you also take into account the cost of European and American vans, I reckon we are getting ripped off bigtime. I supppose while there's a healthy demand with cashed up retirees getting into it, we'll have to cop the prices.
This topic has also been discussed at length on the caravanners'
forum.

btw Mazcan, I think the one you mentioned might be the basic one - they are amazingly like The Conqueror (also from SA) without the military styling. Think the importers are near Windsor, NSW. They look a decent bit of gear with prices to suit us suckers.
