Hi
I think you will find GPSBABEL only converts data formats (i.e. waypoints, tracks etc) not image formats (ozf, ecw tiff,jpg)...but havent looked at it for ages so maybe it can.
If gpsbabel is unsuitable easiest way to go from ozf to ecw would be to use Global Mapper (I assume it opens ozf2, it opens ozf3). Second easiest way would be to use CompeGPS Land but again not sure if it opens ozf2 (
unofficial add on allows you to oepn ozf3)...both these prograsm allow saving to ecw. Global Mapper is not free so that may eliminate that option.
There are other ways e.g. save as png/bmp with Ozi and use ERmappers free ecw compresser (if still available?) to make ecw (but recalibration of ecw required at end).
Can't help much more - out in bush.
Cheers
Greg

My mistake Greg is right
I use GPSbabel a lot when converting google maps and tracks into my garmin GPS. I try not to muck around with ecw too much as they are a licensed product that not many programs will touch.
I just looked on google and infranview says it will convert ecw for free. Maybe give that a try.

I should check my info before posting first.

Hi, try giving compegps program a try. You get a 30 day full functional free trial and should be able to do what you want.
I use that on my pc along with the twonav iPad app and very happy with what it can do.

yes, Compegps Land 7 trial version does convert ozf2 to ecw. But you cant open an ozf2 file in that software, you also need the 'map' file that corresponds with the ozf2 file. This 'map' file is what you open in the software.
In that software you click 'Maps' then 'Convert Raster Maps' and select the 'map' file that corresponds with the ozf2 file you want to convert. Then it asks you to either pick the compegps format or ecw format.
Do you have a corresponding 'map' file named the same as the ozf2 file? The 'map' file has all the data about the map in it.

Forgot to say, I certainly know it works as I converted the all 1:100k and 1:25k of NSW with it (around 1000 files), albeit to the Twonav format but the option is there to convert to ecw.
It allows you to select a bunch of files to convert rather than 1 at a time. Although if you pick too many at once it doesn't like it. I kept it to about 80-100 files at a time.

Hi
Use 5 or 10 and see if result (file size and resolution) is Ok. I use 5...but higher if files size gets too big.

Is there really a need to convert from OZF2 to ECW?? ;) Sorry I can't help with any recommendations as i use GlobalMapper for this task.
Which maps are you converting TC, they may be available as ECW files already.

They are but I would have to buy the new disk $179 . I currently have all my Hema maps in ozf2 format but want to change them to ecw. I want them to run on Trackranger. Plus to buy ozexplorer is $199

Hi
OziExplorer (for PC) is only ~$130, you dont need OziCe as
well (adds $40 to price)...though maybe that makes no difference.
Cheers
