Hello,
Good
forum. Long time reader.
Need some advice from Patrol and Landcruiser owners
This is primarily only for cost reasons to reduce my fuel bill each week.
Long post sorry.
I have a landcruiser 100 series V8 GXV V8 4.7i (top line for that year) (2000 model) and it eats fuel obviously.
Car runs perfect and has been maintained
well and it has 245,000 kms on it now but doesnt miss a beat.
I need a car with largeish tow limit which is why I own it. This is also my only car so I do around 600kms a week combo of highway and town in it and also like road trips away. (up to total of 30,000kms a year)
I have thought of having a small car for daily driver but the rego cost and insurance outweighs the benefit and also for my work, I need to carry a lot of stuff.
I am now looking at either keeping this 100 series as I love it and putting it on LPG (dual fuel)...
I do prefer the 100 series due to the 3500kg tow limit as I have at times needed more then the patrol is allowed but its not a huge deciding factor as 90% of time I dont need the extra tow limit.
But I have to admit, I could sell the landcruiser and buy a patrol and have some $ left over (at least a few thousand easy)
Do I still get the $1250 grant towards conversion? As its second hand around 10+ years old.
How much is the conversion for a good LPG kit approx?
I have heard bad reports about LPG on the V8 cruisers. Is this true or fake?
Or buying a 1999/2000 GU Ti patrol petrol 4.5i that is already on LGP converted by previous owner etc. Any issues with LPG on the patrols?
I dont really want the tank in the cabin due to space but I also dont want to get hooked up when 4x4ing with tank underneath?
I was thinking maybe they could put it where spare wheel is and Ill mount swing bars on the back for the spare tyre. Or even remove one of the petrol tanks from underneath?
What kind of fuel consumption would I get from a GU and a 100 Series on LPG? Town and
Lastly, is turbo deisel an option or not really cost wise on fuel and maintenance/repair incase of failure etc?
Thanks
William
