Hello people, we have just acquired (or going to acquire) a caravans this Christmas. Before we pick it up we would like some recomendation of some towing mirrors. Are there any around the $100 for a pair that would suit my Holden VZ Commodore V6 station wagon?

Thanks in advance.

Toby,
Only one option worth the money. "Aussie truck Mirrors" or that type of mirror are the only ones worth investing in. I tried all the varying types before taking the advice and buying a set of these. Could have saved myself a lot of money and aggravation if I purchased a set of these up-front.

Toby

I'm in the same boat.

I have tried a few mirrors over the years and haven't been happy with them.

However, I did see some on a 4wd that were stailnless steel brackets with extendable arms.

I should have taken a photo, but I thought I would find them on the net as they did not look home made.

So,,,,, if anyone knows who manufactures them please let us know.

Repco have a good set under their own brand which I think is Gear Up or something similar. Only thing I would mention is that you need to retension the fabric straps after the initial installation as they seem to stretch. They cost approx $125 a set. Hope this helps

Gooday,
Camec have the better ones, slightly larger Mirror and S/steel casing of head.
Usually about $150-00 for pair, well worth the few Xtra dollars.
Cheers,

Doug it looks good, but I am a bit concerned about the strap hard up against the door.

Would it rub the duco?

So you might be concernedbut there's a lot of people using them, and I know what you mean.
Back in the 1990's when I was driving trucks , one of the other drivers in the company I was driving for out of Brisbane picked up a 20 foot fridge van body in Melbourne, it was made of white colored fibreglass, he tied it down with 2 Load Binder Straps which when tightened were hard against the side of the load, when he got back to Brisbane the straps had been wind vibrating and left 2 rub marks down each side, what he should have done was place a short piece of 3x2 in between the strap and combing rail of the trailer to hold the strap away from the load, and add 2 twists in the strap down each side, by doing that the very tight strap will not vibrate like a guitar string and rub. Of course you can't add twists to the mirror strap but if you had any doubts you could add a small bit of rolled toweling halfway up the door to keep the strap of the duco, but I don't really think that you would need it as the length from the window to the bottom is only very short and it won't vibrate in the wind speed.
