Hey
Just wondering if anyone has a recent update for this track to
Innamincka. Last road conditions update was 01/08/11 which has the
track closed.
Has anyone been through here recently who could give some information on open / closed and track condition. If not I'll give Bollards a call.

Richard,
We were up that way a couple of months ago. Understand that this track is permanently closed due to too many tourists getting lost and wandering into the "no entry" borefield area up the north end. Pity, as it passes through some very picturesque country, especially when in bloom after rain.
Cheers

Hi
John
Thats a real shame if that is the case. We have driven this route in the past and it is a great way to get from the Corner up to
Innamincka. Guess we will be going via the Strez instead. Such is life.....

Richard,
did you catch this post from yesterday?
Camerons to Innamincka - The other way
It's a good run and something different. I always enjoy the run up through Orientos. A bit more Picturesque than the Strez Route.
Cheers Mick

I have just spoken to Bollard's Lagoon Station who confirm that the
Bore Track is indefinitely closed to tourists. It is currently closed because of conditions particularly at the northern end under the jurisdiction of SA Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources and it may be possible that it will remain permanently closed but this MAY be reconsidered later when track conditions have improved. He said the closure was NOT because of "too many tourists getting lost".
Pity as it is a nice drive.

Looks like another iconic track has been shut down due to Government departmental bureaucracy.
The real reason is probably more like The SA Government will not justify the allocation of funding to maintain the northern end, which is within the
Innamincka Regional Reserve.
When we drove though there a couple of years ago, the
Bore Track on the Bollard Lagoon section was excellent, (for an investment of a few dollars to use the private section of the Track), but once you reach the Regional Reserve, both track conditions and lack of sign posting was a real issue.
It's a great pity as this area of the NE corner of SA is part of "God's Country".
Government Bureaucracy = "bloody inefficient and ineffective mongrels"
(I feel better now!)

Bill! you are right about the lack of signs, we got lost in that top section. We lost quite a bit of time, making it a long day!! It is a pity its closed, it's a great drive. Michael
