Howdy all

First time poster here. We are planning a 4mth long trip with our camper trailer and are looking for somewhere to stay around Adelaide. We will be travelling from Port Augusta to Robe / Beachport and want to break that part of the trip up a bit.

Cheers

Depends on what you want to do and how close to Adelaide. If you are looking for great bush camping then Saunders Gorge. After that you have plenty of caravan parks to choose from. Westbeach is excellent and by the ocean but you have plent of others. All it takes is a quick websearch

Saunders Gorge camping

Looking at their website, apparently it would cost $20 for me and my vehicle to use the campground for one night. Am I correct?

Think Candace S. was referring to Saunders Gorge. Give me Saunders Gorge any day over West Beach or Marion or any other Caravan Park for that matter.

The Rocks near Balaklava is free and very peacefu. Has a billabong there to camp by tool. Only a few kms off the beaten track.

Fab - Thanks for mentioning Balaklava. Do you know anything about Devils Gardens, in the same general area?

No sorry Candace.... never heard of Devil's Gardens. Sounds interesting.

I just know The Rocks area. Reliable water hole, lots of big gums, sheltered from the wind and doesn't have much traffic wizzing through there.

It reminds me a lot of the area around Parachilna Gorge without the 5 hour drive from Adelaide.
