Hi, I have a Toyota Hiace 95 mod camper with a 2.8 diesel 220kms & no oil pressure, the warning light came on so I removed the oil center & put in a oil gauge & started the ace result no oil pressure oil has been serviced every 5000kms so no blockages, I think the problem could be in the pump ? is this a common fault with these motors or just my luck again, any ideas would much welcome Thanks going fishen [or was]

The early diesels had a problem of the oil thickening up. I would drain the oil and see if it flows out freely or if it is thick. If its thick wip the sump off and
check the gauze on the end of the oil pick up. It is most likely blocked up. You can unbolt the pick up and give it a good clean in kero or similar. Put it back on. Put the sump back on. Refill with a couple of litres of oil and give it a go.
The 2.8 did it in the hilux as
well however not all engines did it.
Best of luck.

Thanks all four your advice so it looks like the sump off tomorrow & give it a good clean out i hope you are right as i don't like the idea of pulling the radiator out & all the front of the motor to get to the pump where i believe it is, might have to buy a manual thanks going fishen!

If the light isnt on all the time I would buy some of that flush first and try that, save pulling the sump off, for memory there is also an oil cooler on the side of
the block (drivers side) behind a cover plate not sure if this would be giving you any headaches. Cant say I ve heard of oil pump issues with them,
mine did 300 thou and was still going great when I sold it but my oil and filter were done every 4k since day one, vital on the 2.8 as they clag up extremely quick. hence why half the 2.8D's you see for sale have had an engine rebuild, normally number 4 bearing shyts itself. .......................
