A graffitti 'sign' of the times, but so apt for
Cape York
You have come to see something beautiful
and then bury it in rubbish and
toilet paper
Show some respect for where you are
Or go
Home

No different to the signs on the Meneenie loop , " Please respect our land" and then you come across mountains made of green and red empty beer cans.

You are talking to the converted.
And have a look at

HAHA .. had to go to Syney last year for a weekend, and caught a Taxi from the Airport.. they really are crazy!!! I didn't think i'd survive the experience!
But I do get a good giggle when people bash "the locals" for rubbish, when they're own backyards are usually worse.. LOL
I'm not usually on my best behaviour in such conversations..lol..

I see your point but what irks me is the way that the Indigenous Australians profess to be the indisputable ''keepers of the land'' and are ''one with it'' etc but many
places I have visited are treated with no regard whatsoever.
Same with sacred land that has a price if the mining companies are willing to pay. Is it sacred or not?
These two issues of gross hypocrisy do not endear
well for their fight for rights. If their beliefs cannot be believed then what chance do they have?

we were at
cape york about the 2nd week of the season ( 1987 ) and the 'graffatti' was pretty much the same, including the amazing tree climbing disposable nappies.
looks like nothing much has changed over the years

2 bricks
May be I should have added the words 'stating' to comment " a 'sign' of the times "
Its a play on words................
But to be more crude...the words were written by 'author unknown' on the wall of a WindyLoo along the PDR as I was spending a few minutes there.
The words are apt as the travelling populace still leave their rubbish and toiletpaper everywhere
Compré?
