Canning Stock Route Feedback

AS FOR GXL UTE FUEL CONSUMPTION ,DONE THE CANNING DURING JUNE2011 AND CARRIED A TRAVELANDER CAMPER AND THE FOLLOWING WIEGHTS
CAMPER 680 KG
WATER 180 LIT
DIESEL 225 LIT
AND SPARES AND OTHER CSMPING STUFF 100KG
ALL UP ABOUT 1200 KG

FUEL CONSUMPTION ON CANNING ALOT BETTER THAN TAR ROAD GOT 6.25 KM/LITER FROM WILUNA WELL1 TO THE KURUNIWITY SETTLEMENT

WE HAD FUEL AT WELL 23 BUT COULD NOT TAKE IT ALL SO I SUGGEST YOU TAKE THE 170 LIT ON THE GXL AND 1 X25 LIT AND GET YOUR FUEL AT THE SETTLEMENT WHICH NOW ALWAYS HAVE FUEL

THE SHOP AT THE SETTLEMENT IS ALSO A MINI IGA IF YOU LIKE YOU CAN GET ANYTHING FROM THEM AS FAR AS FOOD IS CONCERNED WE WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN SO MUCH FOOD IF WE KNEW THAT WE COULD RESUPPLY AT THE SETTLEMENT

REGARDS

Also the fuel consumption terminology in Aust is litres/100km not litres/km.

Without getting the calculator out I have no idea if you are getting good or bad consumption.

I guess you are feeling picked on by now - don't be its all good fun.

Hi Bushpig

Thanks mate put my mind at ease, was a bit worried out how the ute would go on the sand, given that fuel comsuption is quite high on the bitumen. We'll be carrying similar weight, so great help. Just out of interest, what was the price of diesel at the community?

Bushpig,

I think we came across you on the Canning - we were the group of 9 vehicles travelling north.

We have a 150 series TD Prado and used 13.9 litres/100km for the length of the Canning from Wiluna to Billiluna. Used 240 litres all up over just under 1800km.
