The SA Gov. site states the max combined length vehicle and trailer is 9.8 mts.
My question is that I come in at 9.9 mts.
Have any members been knocked back for being just over the gazetted 9.8 or does 9.8 mean 9.8.
Thanks
Stan

I was on the ferry last week when a bloke from the ACT was 9.800001m
He had a camper trailer and it just wouldn't fit ie the gates on the ferry wouldn't close. The operators were very polite but wouldn't carry him so he had to back it all off again.
He was towing a camper with a spare on the back; took the spare off and voila, it fit.

Depending on the circumstances there may be ways to get around that.
Whilst there 3 weeks ago we witnessed 2 trailers get offloaded and placed onto a flatbed truck then transported across on the ferry.
I know it cost $$$ and they had to wait for the truck to arrive but could be worth investigating.
Whilst waiting you could probably enjoy the other piece of enterprise taking advantage of the flood ( Helicopter and cruises )

Jason,
Doubt you could take advantage of a cruise while waiting for the truck as it is the cruise operator (Peter) who doubles up with his truck carting camper trailers across on the ferry.

Hi LOTR
Forget your caravan though unless you intend going up to the ferry just for a look see and return from whence you came. No Caravans.

Yeah, we were going to go up there with the tents -- we want to get out to Lake Eyre to
camp, too ... so no way I'd risk my caravan on those tracks!

Thank you all for the info but I have found if I take the spare tyre and the camper steps of I come in at the required 9.8 metres.
