Does anybody know how
well a nissan narvara 2.5 turbo diesel would go with towing a 16ft van. Can you sit on 90kmh on the flats and how about going up a
hill???

It would eat it up provided the van is <3 tonne. That engine puts out 403 nm torque and 128kw power.....which is more than the big 4.2 ltr engines in the Patrol and Yotas I believe.

Mate,
it will tow a 16 foot van easily, the biggest problem with the small cube engines is they struggle a bit taking off, you have to give them a few revs before letting out the clutch which then
places a strain on the clutch as you tend to slip it slightly.
My thoughts are these engines are far better suited to autos for towing.
It will definitely tow it easily.
Have a good one,
RA.

I used to find take off a bit slow in my old Defender - sorted it out by starting in low range and then doing a nifty shift into high.

Agree,
My 2.5 Nissan has no problem with my Lotus Trackvan, BUT take off on a very slight incline finds i do have to slip the clutch, which is a worry, but after 20klms an hr no problems, can site on 100 clicks + in 5th all day, {not that I do} & i average 16 lts per 100 klm

Is this the 2.5 in the D22 or the D40 as the power is different I believe, the D40 no problems, the older model with the 2.5 is down on power.
D40 - 126KW - 403NM
D22 - 98KW - 304NM
As you can see they are chalk and cheese, mate has the D22 and he tows a 2 tonne boat everywhere, he makes do, but alsways whinges about needing more power and wish he had kept his D22 3.0 Litre (Older Model)

We have d22 and d40s at work. The biggest power diff is between the autos and mans. The mans go
well the autos make a lot of noise, but little go, especially compared to auto tritons or hiluxs which we also have.
