A good way to combine a camping weekend with something different ?? Volunteer to be an official at a car Rally. We had a great weekend at
Oberon (yes- it was cold)..Camped at
black Springs Sturday Night, then sent out into the bush on Sunday to man a control for the start of a Special stage.
Met some interesting people and saw some awesome equipment- all the Subie WRXs, Mitsi EVOs and the like.
Other venues for the year include
Forbes in a couple of weeks,
Batemans Bay, Cowra and Jenolan.
I even picked up a ride as Navigator/Co-Driver for the Alpine Rally which will be based around
Lakes Entrance, Victoria end of November.
So why not
check with your local Car Club, and see if you can help out. Might just be manning a Road Closure point or a Spectator Control. But can add a bit of interest to your weekend camping.

Have done some volunteer work myself years ago at the Termeil rally (
Batemans bay) and it is a great way to become part of the action.

Yes its always a good weekend of action supporting rallies. We have the Bay Stages held down here soon and also the
Bega Valley Rally is on the June long weekend , which is now held at Eden.
Mini Dulla rally is usually based from the
Shallow Crossing camp grounds near
Batemans Bay

Hi wombat100.
We helped out at the 2009 WRC round on the north coast of NSW.Had a ball, met some great people & had 2 freezing nights camping out.
Its a pity that the greenies had their way as the rally has been moved further south to
Coffs Harbour this year.
Cheers.
Vince
