Patrol GU VI
My new car warranty is coming to an end in 4 weeks on my Patrol, and was investigating the Genuine Nissan Extended Warranty, which they call 'Extra Drive' giving me up to 6 yrs / 150,000 kms.
Has anyone had any experience with these warranties, in particular in making a claim. The dealer has quoted $1370, so want to know I'd it is with the $$$. Is there any major differences to the original new car warranty, in what can be claimed for?
Your experiences would be appreciated.

On my old GU11 I took out the extended KMs.
All up I had a MAF, 2 Computers and a full set of shocks replaced under the extended warranty.
Nissan discovered, eventually, the computers weren't the problem. So about 4 to 5 grands worth of repairs for then 900 odd dollars expended on the warranty.

Just make sure the warranty is good with any Nissan dealer not just the one you brought the car from (no good breaking down in
Darwin when warranty is only with a
Sydney dealer as happened to me)
Cheers Dave.

Never bothered with even the new car warranty on my Patrols (petrol 4800's) but if yours is 3lt diesel I would go for it.
I think they require you to have it Nissan serviced though - something I have never done.

I don't own a Patrol, but going by the reputation of the "Grenade" if it's diesel, I would take Robin's advice & buy it.

Haven't you heard yet? The grenades were produced in 2001 & 2 or there abouts. There too old to get extended warranty on.
If it's the Nissan extended warranty then it's Oz wide. I had a diff attended to down in Tassie recently on extended warranty. It's even available if you venture down there.

There are various options. You may be offered a good deal if you take the offer early. This will also beat price rises. My dealer offered free extended warranty if I had every service done by them (trouble is they don't have workshops in
places like
Rockhampton and Mt Isa.) You can delay taking up the extended warranty until the last moment but I believe it must be signed up before the original expires.

I have the extended warranty on my GU1V 4.2TD Patrol. Only thing I have needed is new bonnet gas struts but it is cheap insurance really.

No issues apart from a Belt tensioner that they are about to replace. The dealer is sending me all of the detailed information which I will read in depth.

we took it out on our pathfinder. It also includes road side assistance and we figured parts can be very expensive and if 1 thing goes wrong, it could pay for itself straight away.

If you purchase a Nissan Warranty it is good for Australia wide.
About the price, contact other Nissan dealers; like other commodities they can be purchased cheaper. My Nissan dealer gave me one $200 cheaper than RRP
Cheers

I think it is
well worth it, we have had our Hilux for 4 years and extended the warranty. Then the air bag light came on, clock spring I think $650 next was the water pump $600 and it's booked in Monday for a new set of injectors.

I have the extended warranty on my 08 crd patrol and just had the intercooler replaced under warranty at 103000kms.
Warranty already paid for itself.

Have had an extended Nissan warranty - yes, the genuine one. On an Exploroz gathering at
Warraweena a few years ago, we broke some teeth off the rear crown wheel and pinion.
Nissan failed to honour the Extended warranty despite being
well within the period and just outside the normal warranty period. Nissan Customer Service eventually paid out the majority of our costs five months after we had paid the service bills, car hire and all. Totalled $5.5k but it took phone calls and letters to get it paid. It seemed the principle of customer service paid it, not the warranty department/insurance.

Took the extended warranty when my Navara was almost out of the warranty.
Well worth the cost and has paid for itself. No problems with making claims. A friend of
mine who works for Nissan claims the extended warranty is as good as the original. The only catch is that you have to take it out before the original warranty runs out
Cheers
