Gulf Track NT

Just wondering if anyone has been able to cross the Calvert River yet, and what is the road like to Roper?

Thanks,
John

yes people are crossing it, deep in the middle with large rocks, cross on the southern side is what we are hearing .......... road is good as far as we have heard, some washouts as graders are still working there way out along ot so be very careful driving, drive to conditions....

Hi Joe and Desert Storm, we got through the Calvert River on the 27 of May with 3 other vehicles the crossing was very deep on the South side so we moved a few rocks around to make it possible to cross on the North side, it was still about level with the underside edge of the bonnet in the deepest part, some of the rocks were huge, so pick your line carefully or risk getting hung up in the river. We were told there is a resident 14 ft Saltie living South of the crossing, we didn't see it but you never know.Tthere were a few vehicles that had tried some time before us some of them drowned one was still there on the 27 waiting for a Tilt tray. Cheers, Kanga.

Kanga 1,
much appreciated feedback. We are looking at heading that way around the end of June. Hopefully the level might have gone down by then. I dont fancy doing a balancing act on a rock with my rig or drowning it!
thanks again, and if you hear of anymore updates please post them on here.

Just wondering though...if a detour on the calvert road toward the tableland hwy could be an option. Has anyone heard of the calvert road conditions?
