Ballina here, planning our trip to central Oz. Leave
Ballina Thur 23rd June, thru
Dalby,
Charleville, Mt Isa, Tennant Crk, Alice, Uluru etc,
Coober Pedy, Pt
Augusta,
Broken Hill,
Bourke, Moree,
Ballina...23 days on the road in Jayco campervan with wife & 2 boys. Wud luv to travel with others,
free camping safety etc....Anyone else doing similar trip, same time? Stack more questions to ask soon...........

As you dont seem to have prompted much in the way of response, I'll have my 2 bobs
worth...First up is the time frame...bloody short for that trip..extend if possible, but if not possible..go hard for a few days & get out there...forget QLD..do that another time. Dont expect to average better than 80 kph, with meal stops included. I would
have no concerns re safety when
free camping, hundreds do it every night along every
road in Oz & it never makes the papers...a great way to save $$ too. I doubt you will
find others wanting to travel "with " you, but dont be concerned..you will find plenty of folk doing the same thing. Keep the boys amused, they are unlikely to share your
particular travelling interests. Involve them in planning & setting up
camp etc.
Maintain your sense of humour & you will have a ball, good luck with it all.
