Oziexplorer only works on Windows computers., so unless you are running one of the Mac windows emulators or virtual machines then you are out of luck. Cheers Mike.

Thanks Mike. The downside of owning a Mac. I'm really only after the Topo maps so that I don't have to fight with the paper version as we drive. Theresia

Hi Theresia

Seeing that you will have to buy a few goodies to start you off, eg some form of GPS receiver, Natmaps, OziExplorer or the like, spend a few more dollars and buy when they come on special the 10" Netbooks. I have seen them on special some time for around the $300 mark.

It sounds like you do not like using Windows, but in this way, the Windows computer will work a treat for moving maps. Use it for that very purpose and you will not have to spend a lots of time sorting the Macbook.

Something to think about.

Cheers

As a long time Mac user and Windoze hater I sympathise with you. I've been down exactly the same road and found no satisfactory solution for the Mac. I've tried running OziExplorer and Garmin Base Camp using Parallels but the performance is hopeless. So, very reluctantly, I bought a cheap 10" Windoze netbook which I use ONLY for OziExplorer. There is no other software on it than what it came with apart from Ozi and I treat it as a big GPS rather than a computer. It works just fine with a USB GPS aerial. You could use a Bluetooth aerial but I haven't tried this.

Hope this helps.

Lawrence
