A friend of mine was shown a spot in the Sandstone area by the locals some years back ......that he swears was as good as Carowine Gorge and perhaps not well known

well he may have got more impressionable as he has got older....and his memory a litttle exegerated perhaps.......

can anyone tell me what is in that general area that perhaps has some form of water body or pool that he is insisting is worth a visit?

Thanks

I can't imagine where Bungarra. It is pretty dry country and fairly flat apart from a few breakaways. You're in claypan country there so i wouldn't expect anything resembling a gorge even if only wet after cyclonic rain. Someone may prove me wrong.

entirely possible after a cyclone like bobby in 95

for instance if I was to tell you about water skiing and people realxing around lake Koppi (where frogs legs mine is now near kundana) you would think I was mad

but in 2000 thats how it was

Montegue minesite north of sandstone approx 75 km has a flooded pit which is used as a swimming hole, maybe that is it?

great views and camping (no water) at Peter Denny lookout betwene Mt Magnet and Sandstone
- Malcom Dam out of Leonora
- Niagra Dam out of Menzies (toilets and a dump point)
Don't miss Gwalia - easy to spend 1/2 a day there - very interesting

I am wondering if he was thinking of Lake Nallen - a bit away from the Sandstone area but he may have gone through on his travels there. Otherwise most of the surrounding areas are pretty much taken up with mining over the past 3 or 4 years.

Can't wait to hear if someone can solve this mystery.

Definately not Lake Nallan

.i have been there many times on the way to and fro overnight....and so has he.... mystery still to be exhausted and hopefully solved...knowing his memory we may be talking 100k's out.....and only a pool perhaps....

Not exactly near Sandstone, but could it be The Garden Granites, east of Cue? That had some interesting cliffs and a pool of water.
