Here we go again !
We are heading up
Cape York in 8 weeks time, and am looking for a few of those brilliant
home made "bite" recipe's
We have used 2 in the past,
1) Equal parts of DETOL, and Baby Oil, and metho
2) Listerene ... just spray everything
So what else is easy to make up from general
home parts.
For bullant bites, and most other insect type bites in Victoria
Fern stalk juice, works a treat, and when not available, I have used sump oil, straight off the dip stick.
Been told that coconut oil keeps sand flies from biting ?
Any recipe's would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Bucky

Talked to a bloke in Q'land on a trip a couple of years ago and he swore by dabbing sandfly bites with cloudy ammonia as soon as possible. Don't know if it works, the little bludgers don't seem to like biting me. :)

To stop getting bitten by mozzies, my mates take me. You can guarantee that I'll be the one that is hovering a few centimeters above my chair in the evening, as the little blood suckers try to carry me off

when we lived on Bathurt Island and
Darwin we used Dettol in coconut tan oil, worked better than anything else. After a days fishing your legs are black with midges, but not one single bight.

I have always used coconut oil; spread it all over your body first thing in the morning and then go out and roll in some sand.
Whatever lands on you from then on, plays in the 'sandpit, throw rocks at each other and eventually they die.
No more bities.
