Gday all,
looking at reconfiguring the batteries in my old mans 200 series.
The end result is we want to change the 2 std batteries have one big cranking battery and the other to be rewired as an accessory battery with an Isolator.
We both are pretty electronically challenged so after a good auto elect in the south western
Sydney area If anyone can help.
Any recomendations would be appreciated
Cheers

Simplest way (low cost, 80% performance is to spilt them with a reputable solonoid like Redarc. Replace the starter battery (passanger side as it is closer to the starter and alternator) with a heavier duty starter battery. You should be able to get a 600-700CCA in . No need to upgrade the battery tray, just get the biggest you can fit in the existing tay. This will easily start your car no problems.
For the Aux battery, get a similar size but either deep cycle, hybrid or AGM of approx 100Ah.
Further suggest you get ARB, TJM or aut elec to do it. Installation is not that much, they do it neatly and with the correct size cables.
You can als get a system that would cost you double the above but for only 5% or 10% better performabnce.
Hope this helps!
