We have just had a perfect two weeks travelling through the SW of NSW and during our stays came across some different sorts of accomodation. The thought and workmanship some people are able to put into different projects never ceases to amaze you. The first was with the Flxble Clipper Club and is an original bus cut down and fitted to a dual axle chasis, towed behind a Patrol.

The second was an old Diamond T with a sleeper cab set up for accomodation.

The third was a fibreglass unit a fellow has designed and built himself. It had a double bed, battery, kitchen, solar and portable fridge and was very lightweight.

If he had left the engine in it he could have pushed the Patrol when it stopped

I remember them, they went like the clappers, even on the "Old Stuart Highway"

There were thirteen Clippers all together. They had one bus that developed an air leak in a
suspension air bag on the Left Hand rear (didn't know they had that stuff back then) About 6 of them had the old one out, assembled a replacement and back in the bus in about 2 hours. They had all the equipment for major roadside repairs and really worked as a team. Bob

Hi Bob,
Here are a couple of different types I found on the road as
well.
The first is a Bloke called Bill Murray in his horse drawn unit which he had been on the road in for the last 12 years

and the second is of Pam and Freds
Shack, a caravan which was fitted to the back of a truck which was
well set up inside

Note that this one was towing a tri axle trailer with everything on or in it including welders, grinders, full size compressors etc. It was their
home on the road.
Not as flash as your pics Bob but interesting none the less.
Cheers, Bruce

I bet he came in handy along the road at times with all the gear Bruce. Would have been a good fellow to share a beer with.

Bob if he could not have sorted you out in a fix it would not have been for the want of equipement he certainly had enough gear. The outfit was their
home and workshop.
They had sold up there house and already owned the van but were looking for a motor
home and eventually decided to fit the van onto the truck as a motor
home of similar size was more than they were prepared to hand over. It was
well set up inside and looked more comfortable than a lot of vans.
Saw them at Coonabarabran at the
John Oxley van park in 2007.
Bill Murray we met along the Newell Highway south of Narrandera where that shot was taken. Often wondered how Bill was getting on and if anybody had seen him in their travels. He had a
young Blue Heeler with him as
well at that time.
Interesting the people you meet on the road. Best part of traveling I reckon.
Cheers, Bruce.
