High all if your going to
Chambers Pillar soon best be taking a few mouse traps.
Talked to a bloke who had just come back after
easter weekend, he said there are thousands of mice there, said he had to tuck his jeans into his socks to stop them running up his legs lol.

Was there a week prior to
easter & there were quite a few mice there then. At night they were running up the sides of our tent. It was more amusing than it was a problem. Stiill a great place to visit.
Just a note there were also a lot of mice & rats at Haillgan Bay on lake Eyre.
I guess all the rain has brought them out.

I don't think they would be mice as such. More likely

"Mice" was a generalisation, You may be correct. I wouldn't know myself....
At
Halligan Bay there were thousands dead ones around the waters edge, along with lots of fish too. I guess someone may me able to identify them form that..

why would you get a big snake season?
snakes only breed one a year, take years to grow and juvinilles and eggs would more likely be mouse food
despite popular myth snakes are not a seasonal animal breeding up in good times and dying off when it gets tough like budgies and mice etc

We are being hammered by the mice here in Wagga at the moment, and it is set to get worse in the next few weeks. They have caused $45,000 damage to our studios so far. We're catching 15 or so a night - would be more but we need more traps.

bucket of water (large) 2 broom sticks either end going from the ground and dangling over the bucket
put smooth plastic jars on the ends of the broom stick and smother the end with peanut butter
mouse gos up the brromstick for the peanut butter walks on the jar slips off into the water
- will kill them all night long

It's a nightmare out and about in Victoria too. We have a stop over in the Sunset Country Park, at the
Pink Lakes but ended up packing up at midnight and heading
home. They were through everything!
Probably would've stuck it out to morning if we'd been further away from
home!

Just back from a week in Murray Sunset NP and Wyperfeld - no sign of mice there, but plenty at the Rankins Springs Caravan Park on the way back to
Sydney! :(

we have just come across NSW, up through SA (
Flinders Ranges) The centre including Ularu, Alice and up to
Darwin and as far north as
Tennant Creek we saw mouse plauges all the way, further north I think the record wet has stopped them getting out of hand IMHO.

We camped at Henbury Meteorite craters last week between Stuarts
Well and
Erldunda and the just on dark the ground was thick with them.
Had them scurrying over the swags all night.
Made for a
camp I wont forget in a hurry

Went out to
Chambers Pillar today (5th May). We would have been lucky to have seen 20 mice and that includes the ones running across the road between Alice and the Pillar. They must have moved
camp.

Your probably right as there would not be enough food to support that many mice for very long.

Stayed in the shearers quarters in Gundabooka NP. Plenty of mice.
Now staying at cabins just out of
Broken Hill. Same thing.
