hi all
is anyone else having trouble

when i try to reply to someone else's post my typing either is delayed or the characters just don't appear at all or suddenly rush accross in rapid words on the line where i'm typing and then the post /reply will suddenly switch back to the general forum
i then have to hit the back button to get back to the reply/post page it has just done it again while trying to write this thread
i can go onto windows and or mozzilla and type emails 'til the cows come home on widows xp
the problem is only occurring on the e/o site
i complained the other day about this to a staff member and was told its my problem
but i clearly remember this problem was in the e'o site several months ago last year
is any one else experiencing this or have a remedy for it

and yes i have cleaned out the computor memory etc and have tryed various things all to no avail
whot tha
the e/o site is also repeatly telling me to logo before i can write and or reply i have done this 10 times and it still keeps telling me to log-on every few minutes
i am having big problems trying to finish this does anyone have any ideas apart from using a big hammer on it
cheers barry

No issues here either Barry. All working well and reasonably quickly. "Percussive maintenance" doesn't work real well on computers though ;-)

I had the same problem a few days ago. The characters would not appear, untill I found they were higher up in the reply box and I could cursor up to see them, but were in bold type. I do not know what caused it but came good the next day. No problem with the logging in though.
This was on an XP machine running IE8

Yes Barry, EO is unbearably slow for me, hence i now answer very few posts. I often get the effect you mention, typing then waiting for a while before the words appear, but not the jumping back to forum. It also jumps around a lot so i end up with the wrong thread open. This and going slow to a stall seems much worse in the evening.

I have to click twice before a thread will open, and have to wait for ages for it to close before buttons are active to open next thread. Sometimes it is so slow that it virtually freezes my computer and i have to start it up again. A couple of days ago it did this, so i tried it on my husband's computer and got the same result.

I am using IE8 and others forums work at normal speed.

I do not have any log in problems and auto log in operates and leaves me logged in.

I normally use Google Chrome...very fast and no probs with this forum

Hi Witi and thanks for the suggestions.

IE 9 is causing grief with a number of websites. My poor computer has more than enough on its mind without adding any more browsers.

As a Chrome user, perhaps you would be so good as to look at my website Australia So Much to Seeand see if there are any variations of font size or overlapping of text. This has been occurring with some browsers, including Firefox. I'd love to get Chrome user's feedback (can email me screen shots of anything amiss). Much appreciated if you would do this for me.

Hi,
Nice website, enjoyed what I saw,I will it more fully this evening.
It renders well with Chrome...no obvious layout or speed issues.

You may have a web page problem with some of your links.
Travelogues

*2004 A quick trip across the country WA to Qld
*1999 Cairns to Cooktown including the Bloomfield Track and the Atherton Tabelands

These two are not activated as hyperlinks.
Typo in last links = Tablelands

Thanks very much for the feedback Teza and Witi - that is good news.

Thanks also for the proof read Witi - that one had got past me! I pick up errors in everyone else's websites, but in my own, i tend to see what is meant not the typos. The links for 2004 and 1999 are not active as there is nothing added - i have a very long way to go yet and progress is slow. I really appreciate this type of feedback.

Happy travels

hi to all
thanks everyone for the help and advice
motherhen you are having very simular problems so it looks as if it's a w.a problem i can relate to many things that you are experiencing

i do know for a fact that the moment the kids get out of school just after 3pm each day here in bunbury the internet also virtually freezes on a daily basis
they should keep kids at school all night lol
i dont think the internet providers in this state have enough capacity to carry the transmissions and the fibre optic cable from perth south is totally overloaded
most of the time have spoken to business people as well who have problems too
lunch time period is another bad zone time and after dinner at night
the only time my desk top computor runs any where near up to speed

is if i get out of bed at 4am and do what i have to but by 7.30am you can see it starting to fail again as the little people crawl out of bed and start turning on their laptops etc
i have been into my computor today and cleaned it all out which i do several tmes a week and today i have also deframented it as well
thanks everyone once again much appreciated

Hi,
Appreciate your advice and urge others to do it.
If folks aren't sure what all this cleaning means..I recommend they download
CC Cleaner or Glary's Utilities...or other similar programs others no doubt use and trust and run them weekly.
When downloading I always advice obtaining them from "safe"sites such as Cnet or PC World etc to avoid possible corrupted or hijacked versions.

Also remember your anti virus software does always detect malware, scumware etc and it is important to also use Malwarebytes or Superantispyware to scan regularly.
It is even more important to download these direct from the developer or Cnet etc...as there are malicious lookalikes out there.
Cheers

Clean out your cookies and temporary internet files.

Have you installed any new programs recently.

A good clean out as above should fix it.

Hello, if you are using a laptop with a touch-pad this may be the problem,I have in the past had similar, until I realised I was brushing the touch-pad when typing, this sends the cursor anywhere and everywhere, just a thought, cheers Bill

As suggested go to the Tools menu of IE, Internet options and then clear temporary files, cookies etc. Then goto the Forum main page and type Ctrl-F5 which will force a flush of cached pages. This usually fixes things after there have been changes to a web site as has been happening here.

And have given up sometimes trying to reply to a post.
I thought they were still having issues after the upgrade,

And as you say only happens on E,OZ,Every other forum work fine.
I will try a the fixes what every one else has suggested.
