Hey folkes,
Trying to find out if anyone has been out to isralite bay east of
esperance lately. Trying to get a bit on info on the seaweed between here and bilbunya.
Does it go from the dunes all the way to the sea at low tide or is it possible to drive around at low tide.
Have heard that the tele track behind
the beach is pretty overgrown as
well.
Any info appreciated.
Cheers
Shaun Lewis

depends on tides winter tides make it tough/immpossable you need to take te telegraph track from isralite for 10-20k before cutting through to
the beach to avoid the worst of it

GOM,
Did the inland track from Balladonia via
Israelite Bay to
Esperance in 2007 and although it was wet and the track fairly rough with reasonably hard sand it wasn't to bad.
Planning for two vehicles in early June with one towing a Campomatic Trailer which is no wider that the vehicle and has good solid independent
suspension.
Do you know what the track condition is like at the moment?
Thanks.

Richard, we were in that area a couple of weeks ago were told by people we have met a couple of times along the way the first 60 Kms from Balladonia is a bit rough, but after that it's OK.

Hi Shawn,
Members from our 4WD club are do this trip right now. I have been following them via SPOT and thet appear to have gone directly on
the beach at Isralite Bay. I did this trip many years ago and we couldn't get past the weed at the beginning, seems like they have managed to.
From what I can see on SPOT, they are right at the base of the cliffs and are about to climb up the Wyile Skpe/
Great Australian Bight as I type! They will be back
home in a few days so will post up the "weed" conditions - but I leave today for a week long trip so may be next week before I am on-line again.
Cheers
Captain

Hi Shaun,
You might be best asking this a couple of days before you head off rather than 4 months away!!
Conditions down there (and everywhere else) change overnight.
Not having a go but let's be realistic here.
Cheers,
Dennis

Agreed!
I've done this run a few times, and after winter there can be a lot of seaweed. I did the run east to west one early October in the 90's, and
the beach was very short, and at the eastern end, very soft. Found it safer up in the dry sand, and that was soft! In good times,
the beach is hard and one can do 80km/h, but a crawl when soft.
Even if
the beach is in good condition,
check your tide charts for maximum tide change. I ran foul on the last run a couple of years ago with a neap tide, and couldn't get through at low tide. Access to the telegraph track was flooded near Wattle
Camp, so I couldn't use that option either.
cheers
Gerry

Admittedly our journey along that beach was a long time ago in 2005. I gave the seaweed a miss right up to 17km beyond Wattle
Camp. Driving on seaweed isn't a good idea as you never know what lies beneath
Driving
the beach in the winter months is not recommended either due to the fact that the tides are a lot higher then and water comes up
the beach all the way to the base of the sanddunes. This in turn may leave very wet patches which could bog you easily.
The OTT from
Israelite Bay to Wattle
Camp was very overgrown resulting in severe scrub marks on the vehicles (but they rubbed out again...lol)
But we drove the 35km of beach in winter and made it through to where we found an access exit from
the beach leading up to the Wylie Scarp and beyond.
Help from the then CALM office in
Esperance was non existent as the Director had no clue of the area we wanted to visit. Maybe things have changed in 2011.
It was a good trip.
Cheers
Spero
