I have replaced my tired old td42 diesel (1993 mavrick) with a japanese import td42t. the problem is that the motor will not rev past 2100rpm so I assume that it has a limiter of some sort. any ideas of how to remove or disengage would be most appreciated
thanks

there is a TD42T1, TD42T2, TD42T3, TD42T4 and depending which version max power (kw) is developed around 3600 - 4000 revs with torque maxing at 2000revs ao it really should rev to at least 4000 revs one would think.
Some versions had a semi electronic system which retained mechanical njectors so which pump are you using on it, if its one that came with the new engine it may be looking for some electronic input.
Like they said best option is to go to the patrol
forum.

Thanks for all your help, i decided to
check all the filters before I changed over the injector pump and I found that the micro filter in the fuel inlet pipe was clogged. Cleaned it up and refitted to the injector pump. Engine now purrs like a kitten (or roars like a lion) all through the rev range. Once again thanks
